چکیده
The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a dynamic cellular that regulates brain nutrient supply, waste efflux, and paracellular diffusion through specialized junctional complexes. Finding system to mimic monitor BBB integrity (i.e., be able assess the effect of certain compounds on opening or closing barrier) vital importance in several pathologies. This work aims overcome some limitations current measuring techniques thanks multi-layer microfluidic platform with integrated electrodes Multi-frequency Trans-Endothelial Electrical Resistance (MTEER) synergy machine learning algorithms. MTEER measurements are performed across range frequencies up 10 MHz highlighting presence information different frequency ranges. Results show proposed can detect formation, opening, regeneration afterwards, correlating results obtained from immunostaining model presents novel for future biological in-vitro studies could potentially help elucidating sealing treatments drugs.

Candesartan Attenuates Ischemic Brain Edema and Protects the Blood–Brain Barrier Integrity from Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Rats
Background: Angiotensin II (Ang II) has an important role on cerebral microcirculation however, its direct roles in terms of ischemic brain edema need to be clarified. This study evaluated the role of central Ang II by using candesartan, as an AT1 receptor blocker, in the brain edema formation and blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption caused by ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injuries in rat. Methods...
متن کاملBlood-brain barrier integrity in a zolpidem-responder patient.
A 27-year-old neurologically disabled but fully conscious male zolpidem-responder patient was investigated for blood brain barrier (BBB) dysfunction 5 years after a traumatic brain injury. A baseline single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) technetium-99m-labelled hexamethylpropylene amine oxime (99mTcHMPAO) brain scan was performed and the patient was administered 10 mg zolpidem dail...
متن کاملEstablishment of a simplified in vitro porcine blood–brain barrier model with high transendothelial electrical resistance
Good in vitro blood-brain barrier (BBB) models that mimic the in vivo BBB phenotype are essential for studies on BBB functionality and for initial screening in drug discovery programmes, as many potential therapeutic drug candidates have poor BBB permeation. Difficulties associated with the availability of human brain tissue, coupled with the time and cost associated with using animals for this...
متن کاملInterleukin-34 Restores Blood–Brain Barrier Integrity by Upregulating Tight Junction Proteins in Endothelial Cells
Interleukin-34 (IL-34) is a newly discovered cytokine as an additional ligand for colony stimulating factor-1 receptor (CSF1R), and its functions are expected to overlap with colony stimulating factor-1/macrophage-colony stimulating factor. We have previously shown that the IL-34 is primarily produced by neurons in the central nervous system (CNS) and induces proliferation and neuroprotective p...
متن کاملP 61: MicroRNA as a Therapeutic Tool to Prevent Blood Brain Barrier Dysfunction in Neuroinflammation
Endothelial cells present in brain are unique and differ from other peripheral tissues in a number of ways, which ensures specific brain endothelial barrier properties. Endothelial dysfunction is the earliest event in the initiation of vascular damage caused by inflammation. Various microRNAs (miRNA) have been discovered in different cellular components of the blood bran barrier (BBB). miRNAs a...
